Bootcamps are the fastest growing fitness phenomenon worldwide. And for good reason. The structure of Bootcamp classes are perfectly tailored for the most common goals in the fitness industry:
Fat Loss, Toning, Muscular Endurance and Improved lung capacity.
It is a fantastic way to lose weight from the right places (fat stores) whilst maintaining that all important muscle tissue to give that defined toned look that is so sought after.
So what are bootcamps?
The original concept was taken from the military where large groups were given intense drills to perform to improve their strength, endurance and overall performance in the field. This concept, when taken on board by the fitness industry, was essentially a carbon copy of that format transferred to members of the public.
Instructors would dress up as drill sergeants and gather their ‘troops’ in the local park or field and have them perform exercises on demand using limited equipment and the natural environment.
That’s ok for a select few hardcore enthusiasts, but is probably a little full on for most of us.
Besides, fancy dress is probably best left for Halloween and I’m sure it doesn’t make the exercises any better having the guy shouting at them being dressed up in army gear!
Modern day bootcamps are a different animal entirely. The exercises are more user friendly; they can be tailored to suit the overall needs of the group and it is possible to accommodate a wider range of abilities, fitness levels and goals by offering options throughout the class.
That still leaves the weather!
The fact is most bootcamps still stick to that ideal of using the local park. It gets fresh air in your lungs and allows for large participation levels.
However, Glasgow is hardly the place for betting on the weather!
For many that’s not a problem and getting down and dirty whilst working out is part of the charm. But the temperature is a different thing. Training in extremely low temperatures is not only uncomfortable, it’s downright dangerous. Cold muscles are less flexible and liable to tear and cold air is more difficult to process. All of which is only going to hinder your progress.
Designer Body Bootcamps are Indoors!
Located 2mins walk from Singer Station the hall is suitable for a wide variety of training options.
So rain, hail or even shine (If Glasgow is ever graced by such a luxury) your fitness and improvement doesn’t have to stop.
However, the studio does have the ability to open up to the elements, so during those brief sunnier days, we can open up the studio, let in the sunshine and extend the class outdoors where appropriate.

The Class is currently available on Mondays at 6.15pm; Wednesdays at 6.15pm & Fridays at 6.30pm
These times were set through discussion with our current members, so if you want to have an input in the future developments of this or any other class on the timetable all you have to do is become a Studio Member.
